Five Questions To Answer Before You Book A Hotel
Whether
you're a frequent traveler or not, you certainly know that getting set to take
a trip requires thinking ahead about a number of things. Perhaps the one part
of planning a trip that gets people really on edge is having to book hotel
accommodations for anywhere from one person to their entire family. You always
want to be sure you find a great place to stay that has all of the things you
want. More importantly, you also want to be sure you're not in a position where
you pay too much for your room.
It's no
secret that finding a place to stay when you travel is pretty easy to do. Watch
television for long enough, and you'll find that a number of the commercials
you watch are about finding great deals when booking a hotel room. It's no
wonder that our biggest fear is feeling like a dope when we think we've paid
more for a room than someone else. What's more, if you're too caught up in
feeling ripped off on pricing, you're not thinking about all of the other
questions you should be asking.
Before you
book a hotel room, be sure to ask yourself these questions:
When Is
Check-In/Out? You'd
hate to be penalized or lose a room because you didn't know when to check in or
out of your hotel. Most hotels have this information noted on their site.
Are There
Discounts Available? If
you happen to have affiliations and memberships with certain organizations, you
might be entitled to a break on pricing for your hotel room. Every little bit
helps.
What Kind of
Access to Amenities Will I Have? Oddly
enough, some hotels can be a little odd about who has access to what. If you're
not big on extras, it's no big deal, but if you think that amenities are a part
of the hotel experience, you might want to figure out what things you really
want & see if your prospective hotel can meet these needs.
What Is the
Internet Situation? Even
though we're used to the idea that everyone has internet access, some hotels
don't or charge for it. Ask yourself if you need it or not.
Does My
Prospective Hotel Serve Breakfast? It
seems like a little thing, but you may want a meal before hitting the bricks
during your trip. A complimentary breakfast is a great way to not only start
your day right, but it also means you don't have to spend money for a meal
while you're out.
If you book
hotel rooms regularly or not, it's important to ask these questions before
making a final call on where you want to stay. Moreover, travel experts are
quick to note that for all of the questions we ask ourselves about what we want
out of our travel accommodations, we're not very good about asking questions of
the hotels we're considering. What do these experts believe is the best advice
they can give about booking hotel rooms? Call the hotel directly. It's a lost art,
but sometimes you will find that the ability to make a human connection via
telephone will not only yield the answers you want, but you may actually get
more helpful information than you anticipated.
